Dead Ringer is a love-letter to the local Brantford art scene. Alongside historical documentation and entertainment, the purpose of this zine is to create a platform for the public to share their art, opinions and stories. This publication highlights local Bummer Records & Nursery shows, as well as having ample space for art submissions and articles from the editors and community.

Our fearless founder, Dani’s vision was behind the creation of Dead Ringer. She applies her artistic sensibility to give each zine a striking visual style. Outside of the zine, Dani expresses herself creatively through sustainable fashion. In Summer 2023, she released an upcycled fashion collection through her project @missedmarymakes.
Aleura Chatzis

Dead Ringer co-founder Aleura has been a part of this group since its inception. She uses her journalistic expertise to create an accessible relationship between the community and the performers at local shows. Specializing in writing, they have spent their whole life invested in this work, via poetry and other creative writing endeavours. Aleura uses her disciplines to provide both fact and feeling to the zine, among other things.

When Dead Ringer decided to create a digital archive of the zine, Nick stepped up to assist in the creation of a website. Everything you see here has been formatted by him! In addition to being a part of Dead Ringer and a lifelong Brantfordian, he plays drums/percussion in several Brantford bands, and is a sound tech and member of the Bummer Records team.
Cadence Nixon

Cadence is a multi-disciplinary artist and co-founder of Dead Ringer. As one-half of the zine’s visual art department, her distinct palette of black, grey and white is found littered throughout each issue, most notably on the title page. Outside of Dead Ringer, she is vocalist/guitarist in local bands and works as an independent tattoo artist @cadenceinkson.
Ethan Silver

Ethan edits almost every bit of text that ends up in the printed zine. After joining the group during Issue 008, he has since taken the role of writing album reviews and pieces on local community groups/bands. Outside of his work with Dead Ringer he plays in several bands and supports the local music scene by being a part of the Bummer Records team.
